I’m Alexa, a high school senior in South Florida, and I am passionate about building solutions that create social impact. With my teammates, I’ve designed and pitched multiple products, from a biodegradable keychain that carries drink covers to ensure drink spiking protection to a smart insole that corrects stroke survivors gait assymetry. That insole, NeuroStride, made the top 7 of more than 1,800 teams at the Diamond Challenge.
Most of my work keeps coming back to one question: how do we help people live longer and stay connected while they do? I’ve chased it through Alzheimer’s research, fieldwork with older residents in Tokyo, and a one-button phone my team designed with my grandmother in mind.
This diary is where I keep track of what I’ve built, experienced (sometimes once in a lifetime experiences), and how I've learned throughout the years from what I've done.
